ROSS COUNTY, Ohio – A Columbus man was arrested late Wednesday night after a crash on State Route 104 near SR-207, where authorities say he was driving under the influence and improperly handling firearms inside his vehicle.

According to law enforcement reports, Andrew Stoll, of Columbus, was driving a white Jeep southbound on SR-104 when he struck the rear of a 2024 BMW X5 multiple times. The driver of the BMW told officers that Stoll had been following him erratically for nearly 20 miles, repeatedly swerving and speeding up behind him.

At one point, Stoll’s Jeep allegedly crossed the center line and then struck the BMW’s left rear bumper before both vehicles came to a stop on the roadside. Officers responding to the scene noted a strong odor of alcohol on Stoll’s breath, as well as glassy, red-tinted eyes, prompting a field sobriety test.

Failed Sobriety Tests and High BAC Level

Stoll was subjected to a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs). A deputy noted in their report that he allegedly struggled with the walk-and-turn and one-leg stand tests.

A subsequent breathalyzer test at the Ohio State Highway Patrol post reportedly revealed a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.225%, nearly three times the legal limit.

Weapons Found Inside the Vehicle

While conducting a routine inventory before towing the Jeep, officers discovered multiple firearms and ammunition inside the vehicle. Among the items found:

  • A black handgun with a loaded magazine
  • Four additional loaded magazines
  • A Remington 12-gauge shotgun with six rounds attached
  • A bow
  • An empty can of Monaco alcoholic beverage in the trunk

Charges and Booking

Following the discovery of firearms inside the vehicle while Stoll was intoxicated, deputies arrested him on multiple charges, including:

  • OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired)
  • Two counts of Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle

Stoll was transported to the Ross County Jail, and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
