WAVERLY, Ohio – More than 260 homes and businesses in Pike County now have access to high-speed broadband as Spectrum rolls out its Internet, Mobile, TV, and Voice services in the region. The expansion is part of Spectrum’s $7 billion rural broadband construction initiative, aimed at connecting underserved areas with fast and reliable internet.

To mark the occasion, Spectrum will host an event on Monday, March 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission in Waverly. The event will feature remarks from State Sen. Shane Wilkin, State Rep. Bob Peterson, Matt Abbott (President & CEO of Ohio SE Development), and Peter Voderberg (Chief of Broadband Ohio), along with Spectrum representatives.

The broadband expansion is expected to boost economic development, education, and small businesses in Pike County by providing gig-speed internet access to previously unserved areas. The buildout was made possible through programs such as the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Grant (ORBEG) and the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF).

During the event, attendees will witness a fiber splicing demonstration, showcasing the technology behind Spectrum’s broadband infrastructure. Company officials will also discuss service availability, offerings, and future plans for expanding connectivity in rural Ohio.

Spectrum’s rural broadband expansion project, backed by $7 billion in private investment, aims to add more than 100,000 miles of fiber-optic network across the country, bringing high-speed internet to more than 1.7 million new locations.

For residents and businesses in Pike County, this expansion marks a major step forward in closing the digital divide, providing opportunities for remote work, education, telehealth, and economic growth.
