Pike County cleans up after tires were illegally dumped

PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — Pike County officials addressed an environmental concern last week by removing 32 tires dumped along Swift Creek Rd. The cleanup, led by Officer Risner and his diversion crew, occurred on Wednesday, March 12.

The Pike County Prosecutor’s Office reported the incident, noting the environmental risks associated with improper tire disposal. To help prevent such dumping, the Pike County Solid Waste Management District holds an annual tire recycling event. This year, the event is scheduled for April 5, 2025, at the Waverly Downtown Gym parking lot.

Residents are encouraged to bring their unwanted tires for proper disposal.
