GREENFIELD, Ohio — A Greenfield man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to a strangulation charge.

Jean Estrada, 37, faced indictment in January on charges of strangulation, classified as a fourth-degree felony, and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. Court records indicate that two weeks later, Estrada pleaded guilty to strangulation, resulting in the dismissal of the misdemeanor charge.

The indictment stemmed from an incident in November, alleging that Estrada knowingly caused or created a substantial risk of physical harm to a victim through strangulation or suffocation.

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss imposed an 11-month prison sentence on Estrada, granting him 72 days of jail time credit.

Estrada is currently serving his sentence at the North Central Correctional Institution, as reported by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
