CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A two-day recovery event aimed at supporting individuals and families affected by substance use disorders will take place at the Armory Gym in Yoctangee Park on Wednesday, April 23, and Thursday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
The event, hosted by local recovery advocates, will provide a range of services, including education and training sessions, health and wellness programs, NARCAN distribution, recovery support services, and access to treatment providers. Organizers say the initiative is designed to foster a supportive environment for those in recovery and raise awareness about available resources in the Chillicothe community.
NARCAN, a life-saving medication that reverses opioid overdoses, will be distributed alongside training on its use, reflecting a growing emphasis on harm reduction in the region. The event will also feature peer recovery support and connections to local treatment providers, addressing the ongoing opioid crisis that has impacted Ross County for years.
Yoctangee Park has previously been a venue for similar initiatives, such as the Ross County Overdose Awareness Memorial, which offered NARCAN kits and community support. Local advocates, including those from Project 4-14, have long emphasized the importance of accessible resources in combating overdose deaths, a mission this event continues to support.
The event is free and open to the public.
