CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe VA Medical Center will host its 17th Annual Veterans Appreciation Night on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at its campus located at 17273 State Route 104. The event, honoring veterans and their service, will feature a day of activities, culminating in a fireworks display following a Chillicothe Paints baseball game against the Lafayette Aviators.

The day begins with a Veterans Appreciation 5k at 9 a.m., winding through the 300-acre VA campus and ending at VA Memorial Stadium. Other highlights include live music by Seven Mile Bluegrass from noon to 4 p.m., free food from local vendors such as Up In Smoke and Three Happy Hearts Ice Cream, and a veterans resource fair offering tailored services. Historical trolley tours of Camp Sherman will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the Mace House will showcase military artifacts. Family-friendly games and crafts, a recognition ceremony, and pregame activities starting at 6:30 p.m. will precede the 7:05 p.m. baseball game.

“This event is a special opportunity for the community to come together and show our appreciation for our veterans,” said Ken Mortimer, director of the Chillicothe VA Medical Center. “We are grateful for their service and are committed to providing the best care and support possible.”
