CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that injured two people and closed State Route 159 for about an hour on Thursday in Springfield Township, Ross County.

The collision occurred around 11:28 a.m. near milepost 3 when a 2000 Chevrolet S-10, driven by 25-year-old Lane A. Jayne of Chillicothe, attempted a left turn onto Hopetown Road from southwest-bound State Route 159. Authorities say Jayne failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck by a northwest-bound 2017 Ford F-650 driven by 57-year-old Richard McRoberts, also of Chillicothe.

Jayne sustained serious injuries and was transported by Green Township EMS to Adena Regional Medical Center before being airlifted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus by MedFlight. McRoberts received treatment for minor injuries at the scene but did not require hospitalization.

Green Township Fire and EMS and Springfield Township EMS assisted at the scene. The northbound lanes of State Route 159 were closed for approximately one hour.

The crash remains under investigation.
