CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on US Route 23 near Alma Omega Road in Ross County.
According to authorities, Drezden Bolin-Hitchens, 18, of Waverly was traveling southeast when he crossed the center line and collided with a 2016 Nissan driven by Joseph Brandt, 18, of Columbus. The Waverly teen was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brandt sustained serious injuries and was transported by Huntington Township EMS to Adena Regional Medical Center. A passenger in the Nissan, Luis Granados-Soto, 44, of Blacklick, was taken by Scioto Township EMS to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash closed both north and southbound lanes of US Route 23 for approximately three hours. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Huntington Township Fire and EMS, Scioto Township Fire and EMS, and the Ross County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing.
