CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — A K-9 deputy with the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office has been arrested on serious felony charges.
Deputy Alfredo Magana-Martinez, 30, is currently behind bars for felonious assault and domestic violence. The arrest stems from an alleged domestic situation that occurred in Circleville on Friday. According to law enforcement, the Circleville Police Department arrested Magana-Martinez after a call was placed to 911.
Felonious assault means the deputy is accused of attacking someone with a “deadly weapon” during the fight. The details of the alleged domestic dispute and with whom the altercation was with, and how the deputy allegedly attacked that person using what weapon was not immediately released.
He has been a deputy with the Sheriff’s office since October 2021, later becoming a K-9 unit.
The deputy has been placed on administrative leave effective immediately, according to a spokesperson from the Sheriff’s Office. His cruiser and dog were confiscated by the Sheriff on Saturday and taken back into their possession.
For safety reasons, Magana-Martinez has been transferred to the Fayette County Jail, where he is being housed on the second degree felony and domestic violence charge.
He is due in court early next week.
