CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A 27-year-old driver and two juvenile passengers were seriously injured, and another juvenile passenger was killed, in a single-vehicle crash Monday morning in Ross County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred at 7:33 a.m. on Black Run Road about one mile west of State Route 772, according to a patrol statement.

Christian Griesheimer of Chillicothe was driving a 2020 Toyota Corolla SE southeast when the hatchback veered off the right side of the roadway, struck roadside vegetation, a utility pole guywire, a tree, a concrete retaining wall and another tree, the patrol said.

Griesheimer and four juvenile passengers were taken to Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe by local EMS. One backseat juvenile was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the patrol said. Griesheimer and two other juveniles sustained serious injuries.

The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Bainbridge Fire Department and EMS, Huntington Township Fire Department and EMS, Union Township EMS, Scioto Township EMS and the Veteran’s Affairs Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation.
