ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol released new details Wednesday about a rollover crash that injured four people along U.S. 35 near Richmond Dale in Ross County, including three who were ejected and flown to a Columbus hospital.
A 2019 Kia Forte driven by Detrail Barnes, 20, of Norfolk, Virginia, was traveling eastbound when it went off the left side of the roadway into the grassy median, struck an embankment, and overturned, the patrol said. Barnes was ejected, suffered serious injuries, and was flown from the scene to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, according to the patrol.
Two passengers — Wahcem Walker, 32, and Desi Water, 32, both of Virginia Beach, Virginia — were also ejected, the patrol said. Walker was flown from the scene to Grant Medical Center, while Water was taken to Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe and later flown to Grant, the patrol said.
A fourth passenger, Demetrius Stallings, 31, of Virginia Beach, was transported to Adena Medical Center for treatment, the patrol said.
U.S. 35 was closed in both directions for about an hour, then reduced to one lane in each direction for about another hour as emergency crews responded and troopers investigated, the patrol said.
