COLUMBUS, Ohio — Scattered power outages were reported across south-central Ohio on Monday as strong winds and plunging temperatures moved through the region, with utilities warning more outages could follow as the day continues.
South Central Power reported outages across multiple counties, led by Perry County (56) and Monroe County (48), with additional outages in Fairfield (37), Belmont (27), Noble (23), Vinton (12), Pickaway (12), Hocking (9), Ross (5), and Highland (1). Elsewhere, AEP reported fewer than 50 outages across the Scioto Valley, and Buckeye Rural reported fewer than 20, according to current outage numbers at the time of this reporting.
The National Weather Service said a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. EST, forecasting west winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph across parts of Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeast Indiana. The advisory warns gusts could blow around unsecured objects, bring down tree limbs, and cause power outages. Officials urged drivers to use caution, especially on north-to-south roadways and when operating high-profile vehicles.
