PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Two Portsmouth men were arrested after deputies responded to multiple reports of shots being fired early Saturday on Swauger Valley Road, according to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff David Thoroughman said the 9‑1‑1 center received several calls around 2:41 a.m. reporting gunfire near 5124 Swauger Valley Road. Deputies arrived to find several individuals at the scene along with multiple firearms. A detective processed the area and began the investigation. One person was treated and released from Southern Ohio Medical Center for a possible gunshot wound, authorities said.

As the investigation continued, deputies arrested William Durham, 26, of Portsmouth, and Jabez Stephen Durham, 28, of West Portsmouth. Both men are charged with felonious assault, a second‑degree felony. They are being held on a $20,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court.
