ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Students at a Ross County School were sent home early on Tuesday after a bomb scare.

Fire and rescue crews were placed on standby at the Huntington Local Schools campus at 11:27 a.m. and a heavy police presence moved onto the property, according to emergency officials.

At approximately 11:15 a.m., my office received a call stating there was a bomb at Huntington School,” said County Sheriff George Lavender. “The High School was notified and is taking all necessary precautions. The students are safe. My deputies are on the scene searching the school. Explosives detection K-9’s are enroute to the school.”

After a sweep of the school and after students were sent home the Sheriff gave the all clear that nothing was found.

Investigators have started the search into the origins of the call.

“I want to extend my appreciation to the Columbus Division of Fire, the Ohio University Police Department, and the U.S. Marshal’s Office who provided K-9’s and Handlers to assist in the search.”
