CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Southern Ohio is bracing for a round of accumulating snow beginning Friday evening, with the National Weather Service warning of hazardous travel conditions through early Saturday.

Rain is expected to transition to snow between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., with 1 to 3 inches forecast within the advisory area, including Chillicothe, Jackson, Portsmouth, and Maysville. Locations outside the advisory zone may see less than an inch.
Forecasters say the main burst of snow will taper off early Saturday, but additional snow showers are likely throughout the day, potentially prolonging slick conditions.

The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through early Saturday.
