COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) released new details Wednesday regarding a deadly officer-involved shooting in Pickaway County.
BCI said it was requested on Tuesday by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the critical incident, which occurred at 4800 Duvall Road in Ashville. At 2:51 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a sexual assault in progress. Officers from the Ashville and South Bloomfield police departments also responded.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, law enforcement made contact with a male suspect, and an officer-involved shooting ensued. The suspect was transported to a Columbus-area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
BCI confirmed that a juvenile victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury prior to law enforcement’s arrival. No officers were injured.
The investigation remains active, and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation said it will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
