CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Republican state lawmaker has introduced a bill to rename a bridge in Ross County in honor of a fallen corrections officer.

State Representative Mark Johnson filed the legislation on Tuesday to designate the bridge spanning the Scioto River on State Route 207 as the “Sgt. Andrew Lansing Memorial Bridge.”

Lansing, a corrections officer, was killed on Christmas Day 2024 in an attack by an inmate, Rashawn Cannon.

The bill, House Bill 651, directs the Ohio Department of Transportation to erect appropriate markers on the bridge or its approaches.

No further legislative action has been reported on the bill.
