UNION CITY, Ohio — A high school secretary employed by the Randolph Eastern School Corporation has been arrested on child seduction charges following an investigation by the Union City Police Department.
According to a statement released by the Union City Police Department, officers were initially notified of a reported overnight battery. During the investigation, police learned that the employee’s husband had discovered her with an 18-year-old student of Randolph Eastern School Corporation and confronted them. Authorities said the alleged battery stemming from that altercation is being investigated separately by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department.

As Union City police continued their investigation, they said they uncovered evidence that Alicia Hughes had engaged in a sexual relationship with a separate high school student who was 17 years old at the time. Investigators determined that Hughes and the minor had sexual encounters on at least five occasions, according to the department.
Based on the evidence obtained, Hughes was arrested and charged with five counts of child seduction, police said.
She was transported to the Randolph County Jail and is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
The investigation remains ongoing, police said. Authorities are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Union City Police Department.
