WILMINGTON, Ohio — Ohioans are accustomed to rapid swings in weather, and forecasters say this week will be no exception.

The National Weather Service said severe weather is possible Thursday across portions of southern Ohio, including the potential for isolated tornadoes.

According to the agency’s hazardous weather outlook, showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop on Thursday afternoon and evening. Some storms could become severe, capable of producing small hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes.

Forecasters said the storms are expected to form as a warm front lifts north across the region Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. While there is uncertainty about whether conditions will allow storms to intensify, officials warned that any storms that do strengthen could bring damaging winds, small hail, and brief tornadoes.

Residents are urged to have multiple means to receive weather alerts.
