CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Chillicothe Fire Department firefighters marked a milestone this week, welcoming a new medic truck into service with a traditional ceremonial push-in at Fire Station 4 on University Hill.
The new medic unit was originally ordered in July 2022 and was expected to arrive within two years. However, like many fire departments across the country, the department experienced unexpected production delays that extended the build timeline.

After nearly four years, the long-awaited vehicle has officially arrived and is now ready to serve the community.
Fire officials described the medic truck as a state-of-the-art addition to the fleet, designed to better support crews responding to emergencies throughout Chillicothe.
The ceremonial push-in — a long-standing fire service tradition dating back to the days of horse-drawn apparatus — symbolizes the official placement of a new vehicle into service.
Department leaders said they are excited to put the new medic truck to work and continue strengthening emergency response capabilities for residents.
