ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — It was a busy Saturday for the Bainbridge Fire Department as crews responded to multiple emergencies across Ross and Highland counties.

Shortly after 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 28, firefighters and EMS were dispatched to Shawnee Street in the Village of Bainbridge on a report of a juvenile struck by a vehicle.

Medics responded to the scene and requested a medical helicopter due to the severity of the injuries. The juvenile was transported by air for further medical treatment. Officials have not released additional information about the patient’s condition.

While crews were still handling the crash scene, Highland County officials requested mutual aid for a large field fire along state Route 28. During that response, units were also dispatched to a second reported fire along U.S. 50 near Hill Road in Highland County. However, responding units were canceled before arriving on scene.

No additional injuries were reported in connection with the fires.

Fire officials said the series of calls highlights the importance of regional cooperation among emergency agencies, especially during periods of high call volume.
