CLARKSVILLE, Ohio — A devastating house fire in Clinton County claimed the lives of four children and their mother early this morning, according to local authorities.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 6:40 a.m. to a residence near the intersection of Spring Hill Road and West Main Street in Clarksville. When firefighters arrived, the home was heavily engulfed in flames.
First responders attempted to rescue the children from inside the burning structure but were unable to save them. The mother was removed from the home and transported to a nearby hospital. Officials later confirmed she also died as a result of her injuries.
A man was also pulled from the residence and taken to the hospital. His current condition has not been released.
Authorities say the investigation remains active and more information will be released as it becomes available.
