WILMINGTON, Ohio – Persistent rain and storms moving across southern and central Ohio are creating renewed flooding concerns across the region, with water already pooling on roads and low-lying areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, additional showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout Thursday, adding to the heavy rainfall that has already fallen in recent days.
Meteorologists warn that the continued rainfall could lead to quick runoff, ponding on roadways, rising creeks, and localized flash flooding. Drivers are being urged to use extreme caution, especially in areas that commonly flood or where water may cover the roadway.
The National Weather Service also cautions motorists to remember the safety rule “Turn Around, Don’t Drown,” noting that even shallow water can sweep a vehicle off the road.
Rain chances will remain elevated through parts of the region today, with additional precipitation expected before conditions begin to gradually improve.

A Warmer Trend on the Way
Despite the wet start to the period, forecasters say there is a silver lining. Temperatures across the region are expected to climb steadily through the end of the week.
High temperatures are projected to reach the mid-60s on Thursday, the mid-70s on Friday, and remain near the upper-60s to low-70s on Saturday, bringing a noticeable warm-up compared to recent conditions.
Rain chances are also expected to taper off heading into the weekend, offering a break from the soggy pattern.
Still, officials say residents should remain alert in the short term, especially when traveling, as flooding may continue in areas that received the heaviest rainfall.
