WAVERLY, Ohio — Village of Waverly water customers may see some changes coming out of their taps starting next week, but officials say there’s no need for alarm.
The Waverly Water Department, working alongside the Waverly Fire Department, is launching a system-wide hydrant assessment beginning Friday, March 13. Crews will move hydrant to hydrant each Friday — weather and emergencies permitting — evaluating the village’s distribution system for upcoming infrastructure improvements.
As part of the process, residents near active work areas may temporarily notice discolored water. Officials say the discoloration is a short-term side effect caused by turbulence in the lines when hydrants are opened and flushed, and should clear up quickly once crews move on.
The assessment is no small task. The village has more than 240 hydrants to work through, and officials expect the evaluation to span several months.
Residents with questions or concerns can reach the following contacts:

The Water Department is asking for patience from residents as the work gets underway.
