CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police are investigating after a counterfeit $100 bill was used at a local Pilot gas station over the weekend.
The incident occurred on the night of March 16 when a man purchased a $16 pair of reading glasses using a fake bill, according to a police report. Surveillance footage shows a store clerk examining the bill and testing it with a counterfeit detection marker. The marker indicated the bill was legitimate currency, and the transaction was completed.
The man then walked to a nearby Moe’s restaurant and purchased food before leaving the area. It is not known how he left the property.
The suspect is described as an older white male with a white beard wearing a “CAT” brand hat.
The bill was collected and placed into evidence. Police are working to obtain surveillance footage from the business.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chillicothe Police Department.
