ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Huntington Local Schools was placed under heightened security again on Friday morning after a new bomb threat was reported — the tenth threat targeting the district since January.
According to officials, the Ross County Sheriff’s Office notified the school district early this morning of the latest threat.
Law enforcement, including deputies and K-9 units, responded to the campus and began conducting a full sweep of school property.
In a statement, school officials said:
“This morning the Sheriff’s Office informed Huntington Local School District that they had received another threat to the district. Law enforcement and K-9 units have been on site clearing the campus to secure a safe environment for our kids to safely attend on a regular schedule. We will be in session today on a normal schedule.”
Despite the ongoing threats, classes are continuing as scheduled, the district said in its social media post.
The repeated incidents have left many in the community frustrated and concerned.
Residents have taken to social media, questioning how the threats have continued without an arrest, despite involvement from multiple agencies, including federal partners such as the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.
Authorities have not released details about any suspects, and the investigation remains active.
Anyone with information related to the threats is urged to contact the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials continue to emphasize that all threats are taken seriously as they work to identify those responsible.
