CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A high-speed pursuit through Chillicothe streets Monday night ended in a crash and arrest after authorities say a man with active warrants fled from police at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
According to a police report, officers identified a black Kia sedan on March 23, 2026, after receiving an alert connected to a vehicle associated with active warrants. The driver was identified as Anthony Thomas.

When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Thomas allegedly accelerated and fled, leading officers on a dangerous chase through multiple areas of the city.
Authorities say speeds reached as high as 120 mph as the vehicle traveled along South Bridge Street and East Main Street. During the pursuit, Thomas is accused of driving recklessly, crossing into oncoming traffic, and running multiple red lights, nearly causing collisions with other vehicles.
The pursuit continued before Thomas attempted to turn onto Vincent Street. Investigators say he lost control of the vehicle, sliding off the roadway and striking a local business, causing minor damage.
After the crash, Thomas fled on foot but was quickly located nearby and taken into custody without further incident.
Police say the pursuit lasted approximately three and a half minutes and covered about 4.6 miles.
Thomas was transported to the Ross County Jail, where he was served with multiple warrants, including charges related to telecommunications harassment and a probation violation tied to a protection order case.
Additional charges stemming from the incident include failure to comply with law enforcement, reckless operation, and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
No injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
