CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ross County commissioners approved $350,000 for painting the county courthouse clock tower and installing a new weathervane, part of a series of construction and infrastructure decisions made at the board’s July 6 session.

The clock tower painting and weathervane installation were approved as an added option, known as Alternate 3, on the ongoing courthouse restoration project handled by Berglund Construction, according to meeting minutes.

Commissioners also awarded a $767,322.97 contract to Gillmore Construction for the first phase of paving, planing and striping on various county and township roads, the minutes said. The work is to be completed by Oct. 23.

The board approved pay application 7 to TAM Construction Inc. in the amount of $1,186,005.04 for work completed on the 104 Sewer Project, according to the county.

Commissioners also approved a contract of up to $25,000 with Howerton Engineering and Surveying PLLC for special inspections at the Hopewell Regional Visitor Center, also known as the Ross-Chillicothe Welcome Center.

In routine business, the board approved bills totaling $3,163,970.44, the minutes said. Commissioners Jack Everson, James Lowe and David Glass were present for the meeting.
