CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A water main break on Belleview Avenue has prompted a boil advisory for several Chillicothe neighborhoods, the city’s utilities department said.
The break occurred on Belleview Avenue between Plyleys Lane and Cliffside Drive, and crews were on site making repairs, according to a July 15 news release from the city.
The advisory is in effect until further notice for Brewer Heights, Hesswood Hills, Bellecreek Lane and Woodland Heights Apartments, the release said.
Customers in those areas should bring any water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or preparing food to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use, according to the city. The advisory does not apply to water used for bathing, laundry or other non-consumption purposes.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas may see low water pressure or a temporary loss of service while repairs are completed, the city said.
The advisory will remain in place until water-quality testing confirms the water is safe to drink, typically about 24 hours, according to the city. Officials said residents will be notified when it is lifted.
Customers with questions or service problems can reach city utilities at 740-773-3388.
