CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ross County commissioners appropriated more than $1.58 million in gasoline tax revenue for township road projects and left a dispute over closing a rural lane unresolved during their July 13 meeting, according to minutes released by the board.
Commissioners Jack Everson, James Lowe and David Glass voted unanimously to move $1,583,956 from the county’s Motor Vehicle Gas Tax fund into an account for contract road projects in townships, at the request of County Engineer Ortman.
The board also held a public hearing on a request to vacate a portion of Vandermark Lane, a township road, after commissioners and the county engineer conducted an on-site viewing of the property earlier in the day. Property owner Dailey, attorney Mike Schlegel, Ortman and Assistant Prosecutor Chase Carter attended the 1:45 p.m. hearing, but commissioners did not rule on the request. The board said its consensus was to let the two landowners involved try to reach an agreement that would not require vacating the road.
Commissioners tabled a separate proposal to sign a 10-year lease with Michael Wilson for two county-owned parcels on Yellowbud Road, saying they need more information about whether to sell the property instead of leasing it.
In other business, the board approved a $132,834.30 payment to Stockmeister Enterprises Inc. for continued work on the county’s Service Center renovation project, along with $6,840.36 in “Then & Now” certificates covering county purchases made without an existing contract, and several routine fund transfers between county accounts.
Commissioners also declined to request a state hearing on the transfer of a liquor permit from Acord’s Carryout on state Route 772 to Acord’s County Store LLC at the same address.
