WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — The city planning commission has approved the final plat for the Delaware Crossings subdivision and heard early plans for a second housing development, according to meeting minutes.
The commission voted unanimously to approve the final plat at its July 7 meeting, clearing a key step for the project brought forward by the Community Action Commission of Fayette County, the minutes said.
Members also reviewed a pre-application sketch for the proposed Forest Farm subdivision, planned across from the YMCA by JLB1 Properties Ltd. A representative said the first two phases would include open spaces, a retention pond, a toddler playground, a gazebo, a shelter house and 8-foot-wide asphalt paths for walking and biking, according to the minutes.
Commission members pressed the developer to spell out those amenities on a preliminary and recorded plat so the plans are accurately represented, the minutes said. Members also raised questions about drainage, landscaping and whether the development would become too dense.
The representative said existing vegetation and a tree line would be preserved as a buffer for surrounding homeowners and that the concerns would be addressed on a preliminary plat to be submitted soon, according to the minutes.
A separate, long-tabled proposal to amend the city’s zoning ordinance for short-term rental use remained tabled with no new discussion, the minutes said.
