LYNCHBURG, Ohio — The Lynchburg Area Joint Fire & Ambulance District will host a “Touch a Truck & Meet the Crew” event Aug. 8, giving families a chance to climb aboard fire trucks and ambulances and meet the crews who respond to emergencies across the district.

The free event runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Terry’s Grocery and Pizza, 1505 U.S. 50, the district said in a Facebook post. Firefighters and EMS personnel will be on hand to show off the district’s apparatus and answer questions about the equipment they use on calls, with activities planned for children of all ages.

Terry’s Grocery and Pizza, a family-owned Marathon gas station and restaurant, has served the Lynchburg area since 1978 and is known locally for its scratch-made pizza and oversized “Crazy Shakes.”

The Lynchburg Area Joint Fire & Ambulance District provides fire protection, emergency medical response, vehicle-crash response and hazardous materials response to Dodson, Salem, Union and Hamer townships and the village of Lynchburg, operating out of stations that include its main house at 8123 State Route 135.
