ASHVILLE, Ohio — The Village of Ashville has released its schedule of public council meetings for August, inviting residents to attend as officials take up village business.
A Committee of the Whole meeting is set for 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, followed immediately by a regular council meeting at 6:30 p.m. the same evening, the village said in a social media post. A second council meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17. All three meetings will be held in the Chuck Wise Council Chambers at the village’s municipal building, 200 E. Station St.
Ashville operates under a mayor-council form of government, with Mayor Roger L. Clark leading a six-member council elected at-large. Village elections have been non-partisan since 1985, with officials serving four-year terms.
The village, home to about 4,500 residents in Pickaway County roughly 17 miles south of Columbus and 8 miles north of Circleville, was incorporated in 1882 following the arrival of the railroad and grew further around the turn of the 20th century with the opening of the Scioto Valley Canning Factory.
Council meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend to stay informed on decisions shaping the community, the village said.
