PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — The Portsmouth City Health Department will hold a back-to-school event at Bannon Park next week, offering free school physicals, vaccinations and health screenings ahead of the new academic year, the department said in a social media post.
The event is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 4 at Bannon Park in the Farley Square housing complex, according to the department. Farley Square is one of several public housing complexes in the city owned and maintained by the Portsmouth Metropolitan Housing Authority.
Bannon Park has served as a gathering place for the city’s North End community for more than a century, hosting cookouts, birthday parties and youth sports since 1915.
Services offered at the event will include school physicals, vaccinations for students in grades seven through 12, and A1c and lipid testing, the health department said.
The health department, located at 605 Washington St., offers a sliding fee scale for uninsured residents, with discounts of up to 40% available with proof of income, according to the department. Residents with questions can call the health department at 740-353-8863.
