CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — A rumor that Culver’s and Texas Roadhouse restaurants are opening in Circleville is not true, city officials said Thursday, adding that neither company has approached the city about permits.
The city addressed the rumor in its weekly “Q&A Corner,” a Facebook feature run by Circleville’s Department of Public Service that lets residents submit questions about municipal issues and get answers from City Hall. A resident asked whether the two restaurant chains were coming to town after seeing the claim made in the comment section of a Facebook post from another local page, and whether there was an official place to check what businesses are headed to the city.
“No, that is false. Neither of those business have reached out to the city for permits,” the city said in its response, adding that new development projects are always listed in “The Loop,” the city’s monthly newsletter distributed on Facebook, Instagram and by email. The city urged residents to “refer to official City of Circleville communications for accurate content about the city, not Facebook comments.”
The same installment of the Q&A Corner also fielded two code-enforcement questions. One resident asked about a property with weeds three to four feet tall along its perimeter despite the resident mowing up to the foundation, and whether any rule addressed the height of weeds on private property. The city said Circleville’s codified ordinances, Section 557.01, require that noxious weeds and vegetation on private property be kept under 12 inches tall, and directed residents with specific property complaints to Zoning and Code Enforcement Officer Michelle Cockerham.
A second resident asked whether campers can legally sit in residential driveways long-term, describing one that had been parked for months with steps leading to its door and windows that opened and closed, which neighbors believed meant someone was living inside. The city said that question also falls under Cockerham’s authority and encouraged the resident to contact her directly.
The city additionally answered a question about how to reach City Council members, noting that contact information for all seven — including the four ward representatives and three at-large members — is posted on the city’s website, circlevilleoh.gov, under the “How Do I?” menu.
Residents can submit questions for the weekly feature through an online form, and the city said anyone needing a faster answer outside that format can call City Hall directly at 740-477-8200.
