HILLSBORO, Ohio — City officials are asking Hillsboro residents to be on the lookout this summer for a door-to-door solicitor who has been cleared to sell educational materials within city limits.
The city said in a Facebook post that a college student from Estonia identified only as Vlad is spending the summer in the area as part of an internship with an educational company based in Nashville, Tennessee. He will be going door to door offering learning systems designed for children ranging from toddlers through high school students.

According to the city, Vlad has obtained an approved City of Hillsboro solicitor’s permit and completed a required background check before being authorized to solicit within city limits. As part of the permitting process, he also provided his contact information to the city.
City officials noted that because English is not his first language, residents may notice he speaks with an accent.
Residents are under no obligation to make a purchase or continue a conversation with any solicitor, the city said. Anyone not interested can simply tell him “no thank you,” and he will move on to the next home.
The information contained in this story was obtained from the City of Hillsboro.
