GREENFIELD, Ohio — South Washington Street in downtown Greenfield will close for six hours Thursday to make way for the village’s monthly First Thursday event, according to Main Street Downtown Greenfield.
The closure will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 6, covering South Washington Street from its intersection with Jefferson Street, near the Village Courthouse, to Mirabeau Street, the organization said in a Facebook post. Vendor setup begins at 4 p.m., and the group asked that all vehicles be moved out of the closure area beforehand to allow for a safe, smooth setup.
Main Street Downtown Greenfield describes itself as a nonprofit community organization operating under the Ohio Main Street program administered by Heritage Ohio, a statewide nonprofit that supports historic downtown revitalization. The group’s stated mission is to enhance Greenfield’s historic downtown by attracting residents and visitors, filling storefronts and boosting local economic activity, according to its website.
First Thursday is held monthly in downtown Greenfield and draws vendors and live entertainment to the village’s business district, according to the organization.
Greenfield straddles the Highland and Ross county line and had a population of 4,339 as of the 2020 census.
