HILLSBORO, Ohio — A Hillsboro man is facing four charges after a deputy responded to a report of an attempted break-in at a home in the 11000 block of Highland Hills Drive, according to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office.
James R. Willey, 41, was arrested Aug. 3 and charged with obstruction, receiving stolen property, criminal trespassing and failing to appear on an outstanding warrant, the sheriff’s office said in its regular incident report. Details on what led deputies to the additional charges were not released.
The Willey arrest was one of several incidents Highland County deputies handled Aug. 3 and Aug. 4. On Aug. 4, a resident in the 7000 block of Highland Trail East reported a woman was being assaulted by a man, but the woman declined to file charges after deputies investigated, the sheriff’s office said.
Also on Aug. 4, a deputy responded to a vandalism complaint in the 5400 block of Grande Road. Lori K. Mulligan, 46, of New Vienna, was cited for disorderly conduct following the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office also listed five other people arrested or cited on warrants and other charges: Aixan M. Elmore, 21, of Hillsboro, speeding; Randy A. Mullins, 54, of Ashville, contempt of court; James W. Marcum, 43, of Pleasant Plain, probation violation; James M. Jones, 43, of Hillsboro, failure to appear; and Amy M. Rickman, 40, of Hillsboro, failure to appear.
Deputies, along with fire and EMS crews, responded to 114 calls for service between Aug. 3 and Aug. 4, including 71 law enforcement calls, 37 EMS runs and six fire calls, the sheriff’s office said. The Highland County Jail held 54 inmates as of the report — 44 men and 10 women.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
