SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — A group of community members will host a debate for Scioto County commissioner candidates on Aug. 15, giving voters a chance to hear from those running ahead of the general election.

The debate is set for 6 p.m. at the 14th Street Community Center, according to a release from the organizers. A majority of candidates in the race have confirmed they will attend, including Democratic, Republican and independent candidates.

Organizers said the event will let residents hear directly from candidates on issues facing Scioto County. Audience members will also be able to submit questions for the candidates to answer during the debate.

Drew Carter and Bill Shope will moderate the debate. Light snacks and refreshments will be available.

The debate is free and open to the public. Organizers are encouraging residents to attend and take part in the discussion before the general election.

The information contained in this story was obtained from the organizers of the Scioto County commissioner candidate debate.
