FAYETTE COUNTY, Ohio — A stretch of Mathews Road will close for three days starting Monday while crews carry out bridge deck repair work, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

The closure begins Monday, Aug. 10, and runs through the section of Mathews Road between State Route 62 and Old State Route 38, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post. The affected stretch spans roughly from 3778 Mathews Road to 3142 Mathews Road.

Bridge deck repair work typically involves resurfacing or patching the driving surface of a bridge span, a job that requires closing the roadway to through traffic so crews can work safely and let materials cure properly.

The sheriff’s office did not list a detour route in its announcement. Drivers who normally use Mathews Road to travel between State Route 62 and Old State Route 38 should plan for an alternate path through the closure, expected to last through Wednesday, Aug. 12, based on the announced three-day timeline.
