CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A roadway in southern Ross County was shut down Tuesday afternoon after storms knocked down trees and power lines, according to initial emergency radio traffic.
Crews were dispatched shortly after 1:15 p.m. to the Shady Glen Road area of southern Ross County, where a roadway was reported obstructed by fallen trees, according to radio traffic. A deputy on scene told dispatch the road would have to be closed and asked that the local township be contacted to send a road crew, according to the transmissions.
Fire crews and utility repair crews were also responding, according to radio traffic. Dispatchers said both American Electric Power and Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative had been notified of outages in the area, and that AEP crews were already working in the southern end of the county clearing downed trees from power lines, according to the radio traffic.
It was not immediately clear from radio traffic how many customers lost power or how long the roadway closure was expected to last.
