HILLSBORO, Ohio — The Hillsboro Municipal Court closed Wednesday after a power outage knocked out electricity to the courthouse, court officials said.
The court said in a Facebook post that it would be closed for the day due to the outage. Officials did not say what caused the outage or when power was expected to be restored.
The Hillsboro Municipal Court has jurisdiction over traffic offenses, non-traffic misdemeanors, municipal ordinance violations, evictions and civil claims of $15,000 or less across Highland County, with the exception of Madison Township. Judge William C. Randolph, who was appointed to the bench by Gov. Mike DeWine in 2022 and won election to keep the seat in 2023, presides over the court.
Residents with business at the court were advised to watch for updates from the court on the status of Wednesday’s proceedings.
