CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Emergency crews responded to a serious two-vehicle, head-on crash in the 2000 block of Western Avenue shortly after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday that left multiple people injured.

At least one patient was found lying in the roadway as crews arrived, and one of the vehicles involved remained occupied. Fire crews requested extrication equipment to free an occupant trapped inside a vehicle.

Dispatchers reported as many as five patients in need of transport. At least one patient reportedly suffered a leg injury. Multiple ambulance services, including mutual aid squads from surrounding fire districts, were called in as the response escalated.

Chillicothe Fire Department units were shifted to a dedicated fireground radio channel to coordinate the multi-agency response. Crews remained on scene for an extended period working to treat and transport patients.

The extent and severity of the injuries have not been confirmed by officials.
