MOWRYSTOWN, Ohio — Bright Local Schools will cut the ribbon Monday on a new building that brings a primary care clinic, mental health counseling offices and workforce-training space onto its Whiteoak High School campus.
The ceremony for the Wildcat Learning Center runs from noon to 1 p.m. Aug. 17 at 54 N. High St. in Mowrystown, with a formal ribbon cutting and photo opportunity as part of the program, according to the district. Remarks are scheduled from the Bright Local superintendent and from representatives of the partner organizations behind the project.
The building’s centerpiece is a School-Based Health Center operated by HealthSource of Ohio, which will give students, staff and families on-campus access to primary care, behavioral health and preventive services, the district said. The clinic will be staffed by Lori Wallace, a certified family nurse practitioner, according to the district.
The facility also houses new counseling and therapeutic space for Counseling Source, which the district described as a longtime partner providing mental health services to Bright Local students and families. The district said the modern space will let Counseling Source expand its services to meet growing demand in the school community.
Beyond health care, the Wildcat Learning Center will house workforce-development programming, space for community partnerships and a student-run coffee shop called the Wildcat Den, according to the district.
Chelsie Hornsby of HealthSource of Ohio and Cara Roush of Counseling Source are scheduled to speak at the ceremony. The district credited Future Plans, HealthSource of Ohio, Counseling Source, A1 Buildings and the Bright Local Board of Education with making the project possible.
Bright Local Schools serves the Whiteoak Jr./Sr. High School and Bright Elementary School communities in Highland County.
