ASHVILLE, Ohio — Teays Valley Local Schools will hold two elementary assessment days later this month, splitting students into two groups by last name so each attends school on only one of the two dates, according to the district.

Students with last names beginning A through K will have no school on Friday, Aug. 21, while students with last names beginning L through Z will have no school on Monday, Aug. 24, the district said.

Reducing the number of students in the building on each assessment day allows teachers to manage smaller groups, complete the screenings in a timely manner and limit the disruption to regular instruction, according to the district.
