CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man was seriously injured Friday afternoon when his car crossed the median on U.S. 35 and struck a disabled tractor-trailer in Scioto Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred about 3:33 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 35 near the State Route 104 exit, troopers said. Michael Leeth, 33, of Chillicothe, was driving a 2012 Ford Focus westbound when he left the left side of the roadway, crossed the median and struck a 2003 Kenworth tractor-trailer that was disabled on the shoulder.
The truck was occupied by Michael Cravens, 66, of South Point, who was not injured. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
Leeth was taken by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with serious injuries.
The Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating. The Jackson Communication Center received the initial report. VA Fire, Scioto Township EMS, Union Township EMS and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. Eastbound U.S. 35 was closed for about two hours.
The crash remains under investigation.
