
Albert Donald Cregger, 98, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 24, 2026, at SOMC Hospice. Born on May 5, 1928, in Portsmouth, Ohio, son of the late Albert and Opal (Sparks) Cregger. Albert lived a long and meaningful life filled with memories, experiences, and the love of those fortunate enough to know him. He was a man whose presence brought strength, wisdom, and love to his family. He was a long time Employee of Empire Steel and was the last one out of the plant after turning electric off.
Albert will be remembered most for his love of Christ, the love he gave to his family and for the memories he created with those around him. His life touched many people, and his legacy will continue through the children, grandchildren, and loved ones who carry his memory in their hearts. Though he is no longer with us, the lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the love he gave will never be forgotten. His family takes comfort in knowing that he will always remain a part of them.
Albert is survived by his loving family, his children Diana Cregger (Larry) Gullett; grandchildren Dacia (David) DeVore, Russ Johnson, and Randy Johnson; great-grandchildren Austin (MaKenzie) Johnson, Caiman Stiltner, and Riley Johnson, Chase (Blain) Devore; great- great grandchildren Maea and Lynlee Johnson, Cali and Westin Devor; a special friend, Rose Reed, along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 yrs Francis Mae Cregger, a son Donald E. Cregger and a sister Joyce Cregger Green.
Funeral Service is Saturday, August 29, 2026, 3:00 PM, D.W. Swick & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Wheelersburg. Visitation with family will be 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM, prior to the Service. Private interment is Monday, August 31, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace.
