FRANKLIN FURNACE, Ohio — Green Township Volunteer Fire Department has added new nozzles to its firefighting equipment, purchasing part of the upgrade with grant money from TC Energy.
The department bought four 1.5-inch HEN blade nozzles using funds awarded by TC Energy, the fire department said in a Facebook post. GTVFD was also able to acquire two 1-inch HEN wildland nozzles at special pricing.
The nozzles arrived this week, and the department put them into service the same night with training for its members, according to the post.
Green Township Volunteer Fire Department is headquartered in Franklin Furnace and operates out of two stations with about 30 volunteer firefighters, serving Green Township’s roughly 4,100 residents in eastern Scioto County, according to fire department records.
TC Energy, a North American energy infrastructure company whose Columbia Gas Transmission pipeline system runs through the region, offers community grants through a program called Build Strong for organizations operating near its pipeline and power operations, according to the company’s website. The department thanked TC Energy for the funding, as well as Tim Sias of Atlantic Emergency Solutions for arranging the order.
