PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office has issued active arrest warrants for a 22-year-old man in connection with a stabbing that left a victim in critical condition, Sheriff David Thoroughman said.

Rodney White Jr. is wanted on charges of attempted murder and felonious assault, according to the sheriff’s office. White’s last known address is Spring Hill, Tennessee.

The Scioto County 911 Communications Center received a call Aug. 8 from Wheelersburg Urgent Care, where a man had been brought in with multiple stab wounds, according to the sheriff’s office. A responding deputy determined the man had been stabbed during an altercation.

Because of the severity of his injuries, the victim was flown by medical helicopter to an out-of-town hospital, where he remains in critical condition, the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff’s detectives responded to the scene to process evidence, review security camera footage and interview witnesses. The investigation led detectives to file arrest warrants against White, the release said.

White is described as an African American man about 6 feet tall with longer hair and glasses. The sheriff’s office is warning the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” Thoroughman said in a statement. “Additional charges are expected to be presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury at a later date.”

Suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Anyone with information on White’s whereabouts or details about the case is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091.

The information contained in this story was obtained from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
