WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — The Washington Court House Service Department will close the Five Points intersection and two nearby streets starting Thursday morning for road work, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said in a post.
The closures take effect at 7 a.m. Aug. 27. The Five Points intersection, one of the city’s busiest crossings, will be shut down from the Tim Hortons location to Fairview Avenue, according to the sheriff’s office.
Leesburg Avenue and Draper Street will also be closed, with that closure stopping at the entrance to the Kroger parking lot, the sheriff’s office said.
The service department did not specify how long the closures will remain in place or detail an alternate route for drivers. Motorists in the area should expect delays and plan for detours during the work.
Washington Court House, the seat of Fayette County, sits at the crossroads of U.S. Route 22 and U.S. Route 62, and the Five Points intersection is a key link between the city’s downtown and its northern commercial corridor.
